The Frosted Cake Shop

Behind-the-scenes: Creating a dessert wonderland!

A few weeks ago, I found myself on the most delicious set with a couple of the most inspiring young ladies of Sacramento.  Dummy cakes in hand, I arrived at Eleakis & Elder for the first time.  I was greeted by my dear friend Melissa Johnson of Best Friends for Frosting and her army of cupcakes, doughnuts, marshmallows, macarons, and cookies.  Hanging at a photography studio had never been so sweet.

This was not the first, and definitely not the last time that Johnson and I have collaborated on a project together.  You may even recall our super-sweet Holiday Treats from last season!  As the founder and head contributor to one of the most popular online dessert magazines, I (try to) never turn down a chance to work with Johnson.  When she approached me with her latest endeavor, I was excited to jump on board.  BFFF was getting a make-over, and I was honored to help out in any way.

Working with the beautiful and most professional Chantel Elder, Johnson and I created a wonderland of treats to be photographed for BFFF.  Using a backdrop of some of The Frosted Cake Shop’s signature tiered cake designs, we set the scene with an array of fluffy pink cupcakes, towers of doughnuts and macarons, meringues kisses, and classic chocolate chip cookies.

The results?  Take a peek into the everyday life of Melissa Johnson:
